About Us

Derbianus Czech Society for African Wildlife (Derbianus CSAW) was founded by a group of experts from the Institute of Tropics and Subtropics, Czech University of Live Sciences Prague, in 2010 to continue a series of the projects of Czech-Senegalese cooperation running from 2000.

The main activities of Derbianus CSAW are focused on the conservation programme of Western Derby Eland (Taurotragus derbianus derbianus) in Senegal. The society members are saving this critically endangered antelope for many years and attained a lot of important achievements by this time. Members of Derbianus CSAW follow also other activities, especially the research in other countries of the tropics and subtropics (Democratic Republic of Congo, Ethiopia) and the environmental education of children and adults in Senegal and the Czech Republic as well.
