The Western Derby Eland is coming close to the brink of extinction and we feel the need for urgent action that could reverse its fate. Therefore we organize the Species Conservation Strategy Workshop of Western Derby Eland (Taurotragus derbianus derbianus), which will be held from 28th to 31st January 2013 in Saly, Senegal.

This international workshop is organized thanks to cooperation of Directorate of National Parks of Senegal (DPN), Society for the Protection of Environment and Fauna of Senegal (SPEFS), Derbianus Czech Society for African Wildlife (Derbianus CSAW), Czech University of Life Sciences Prague (CULS) and Antelope Specialist Group of International Union for Conservation of Nature (ASG IUCN).

The goal of the workshop is the elaboration of Species Conservation Strategy Plan for the critically endangered Western Derby Eland
