The conference Antelope, Giraffe, Hippo in the 21st Century: Conservation Action in Africa which was held by Derbianus Conservation and the Faculty of Tropical AgriSciences of CULS Prague with the patronage of the Ministry of Environment and Species Survival Commission IUCN gathered experts from all over the world who work for the benefit of conservation of endangered species of antelopes, giraffes and hippos in their full range from Africa to Mongolia.

The main personality of the conference was Jonathan Kingdon, a zoologist, artist and researcher at the University of Oxford and the author of a six-volume monumental work 'Mammals of Africa'. There was no shortage of other well-known names neither, such as David Mallon, Mark Stanley Price, Rob Odgen, Jakob Bro-Jørgensen and those of other personalities in the field of ungulates' conservation.

During the conference, the participants had an opportunity to visit the Common eland farm at Lany which is under management of the CULS Prague. The conference was supported by many Czech and world zoological gardens, sponsors and partners to which we thank very much. A lot of thanks deserves also the whole organisation team and a throng of volunteers who were perfectly looking about smooth running of the conference.
